Meet the DACTYL
DACTYL is our first collaboration with American designer *CAVEMAN EDC (Jesse Pauley). *

After his first design, a large, robust folder built to handle just about any task you could throw at it, Jesse wanted to explore a different direction. His goal was to design something *lighter, more refined, and easier to carry every day.*

The result is Dactyl: a knife that maintains a bold visual presence while offering the convenience and comfort expected from a modern EDC.

Inspired by the Pterodactyl
The name Dactyl comes from the *Pterodactyl*, one of the most recognizable flying reptiles of prehistoric times.

Jesse drew inspiration from the *sharp, sweeping shape of its wings*, using those lines to create a distinctive blade profile with a subtle *harpoon-style appearance.*

The result is a knife that feels aggressive and dynamic without sacrificing practicality, giving Dactyl a silhouette that stands apart from typical everyday carry folders.

Design & Function
Jesse has always been a fan of *front flippers and fullers*, so Dactyl incorporates both elements into a single design that feels functional while still being eye-catching and unique.

Dactyl features a *bolster frame lock*. Compared to a traditional frame lock, this design allows for greater freedom in handle materials and styling on the rear portion of the handle, while still retaining the strength and reliability of a frame lock.

Materials & Configurations
The Dactyl features *premium MC steel* and undergoes *cryogenic treatment*, achieving a tested hardness of *63 HRC*. The same steel has also shown impressive hardness results in our TAIPAN and the MC steel version of the Bestechman Cicada's Wing.

The handle is built around a titanium frame and is available with *seven different inlay options.* The most striking version pairs a *Damasteel - Thor blade with Timascus inlays*, offering a configuration that appeals to both everyday users and collectors.
